How do I make earrings out of seashells?
I went to the Outer Banks last week and found some very pretty shells. I want to try to make some dangly earrings out of two of the shells, but I don’t know what the easiest way to do this is. Any suggestions?
I get fishhook type earrings, drill a hole in the base of the shell and put them on with a pliers. I found that brass fishing findings can make the earrings look cool. Raid someone’s tackle box! You can also add beads and wire and get really fancy!
If they don’t have holes in them the best way is to use a Dremal tool with a fine tip. It’s best to drill with the shell in a little bit of water (not the cord so you get shocked). Once you drill the holes, you’ll need either an open jump rings to attach them to ear wires or use the jump rings to attach the shells to each other. If you had a picture of the shells it would be easier to determine the best way to drill or hang them.

go to the hardware store and buy a fine thin finger drill it iis about 1/8" in diameter and carefully put a hole in the top of the shell, or you can glue thm onto rings and dangle them

well,it depends on just how big your shells are,if theyre tiny then it shouldnt be so hard, get a pair of old earrings that you no longer want, take the backing off(the part that has the piece that goes through your ear) and measure it to see if the shell matches that area, then get a strong glue like crazy glue and stick the shell onto the backing.make sure the glue is completely dry before putting on your shell earrings. good luck!

The above answers are all useful. I bought a bracelet made of seashells yesterday, and the drill hole was very fine, just big enough to take very fine stretchy nylon cord.
