Is it safe to wear earrings after several years of not wearing them?
I got my ears pierced in the 2nd grade, and haven’t had any earrings in my ears since the beginning of 4th grade. I am now 14, so it has been quite a while. I have class pictures tomorrow, and this morning I easily slid earrings into my ears. They are a little red and swollen, but are not bleeding. Is it going to damage my ears to wear a pair of hoopies for one day?
Just get some bactine or something for our ears so the dont get infected, other then that i think its perfectly fine to wear them.
Yes it’s safe. Your ears aren’t hurting because of earrings that haven’t been worn in a while but just because since you haven’t worn any earrings in them for a while your ears aren’t used to the foreign object anymore. If you keep wearing them for a few days your ears will be just fine and you can wear them all the time. I’ve had my ears pierced since I was 2 years old and sometimes when I don’t feel like wearing earrings I’ll take them out for a few weeks-a month and the same thing happens to me when I put them back in.

Nothing is going to happen. The same thing happened to me, and it still does. Even if I don’t wear earrings for a short period of time, when I put them back again, it is slightly red and swollen by night. Just take them out before you sleep and put them back on again in the morning.
