Could someone please give me some information about engagement rings?

I know I am going to propose very soon and need to buy my girlfriend a ring, but I’m a little confused about the process. I always assumed that you simply bought one ring but now that I’ve been looking online I see there is an engagement ring and a wedding ring. Do I buy them both at the same time? Do I buy an engagement ring and then a wedding ring? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Joey,

The difference between a wedding ring and an engagement ring is a big one.

The engagement ring is the main ring, the expensive one. You wear it while you’re married as well.

The wedding ring is something you both wear once you’re officially married. They don’t cost much, and shouldn’t be too hard to pick out.

For both rings, I strongly urge you to look online. The reason? Because you can save up to 50% online on the exact same rings you would buy in-store.

I bought my now wife a James Allen engagement ring and we were both very happy with the purchase – me because I got her a gorgeous ring for much less, and her… well, she just LOVES her ring. It cost me a little under $3,000, but I saw a very similar ring in-store for more than $5,000. Plus, It came with free delivery and a full cash-back guarantee.

Seriously, before you buy, look online. You’ll thank me that you did.

Hope this helps.

Good luck!

You can buy them both now so that they match but you don’t HAVE to. If $ is an issue, buy her the engagement ring now and wait to buy the wedding bands together. I heard that some couples buy each others. She will buy your band and you will buy hers. This is what my fiancee and I are going to do. :)

some brides don’t get wedding bands too, but most do. If she’s very untraditional it might not matter to her much. I agree, you can purchase it together with the engagement band or seperately. Often people go together to shop for wedding bands so they match each other, and most brides like to have some say in what is supposed to be on their hand for the rest of their life. UNLESS you come across the perfect engagement and it has a perfect match that can’t be gotten later.

hi joey firstly congratulations :) ok so the process goes like this

    1. ask her dad or parents for permission, trust me she’ll think its very romantic and its traditional
    2. get her best friend to go with you, its important to have an honest female opinion
    3. borrow a ring from her jewelery box so you’ll have an idea of size
    4. don’t buy both together but do check out if there is a wedding band to match the engagement ring

    good luck

At the time of the engagement, you only have to present an engagement ring. You then present the wedding ring at the wedding.

These two rings can be purchased together or separately. I think it’s a good idea to buy them together so you have an exact match, both in materials and size and fit. Plus you can get a deal this way.

I would just buy the engagement ring first. She is gonna want to pick out your wedding rings. Plus if you pick the engagement ring she may not like that either.

You don’t buy both wedding ring and engagement ring at the same time. You can buy the wedding ring about a month before the wedding. In thinking about your budget, buy one ring at a time unless you are having a completely custom setting. It is easier to make a matching band with your custom design setting. Otherwise wait to buy the wedding ring. Traditionally, people buy engagement ring AND wedding band. However, some people, based on budget will only buy one ring. Really depends on how much you set aside for the rings.

    Good luck!

An engagement ring is to be given on engagement and wedding ring, bridal sets are given on wedding. and yes they differ by a far. an engagement ring should be cheaper than wedding ring. 99% of wedding rings are of diamonds and gemstones and 50% of an engagement rings are of diamonds. you can buy any ring for an engagement. you can even give a iron ring. :

for online, I always prefer to buy from jewelocean.com. They are wholesalers and offers discounts on various jewelries.http://www.jewelocean.com/

The engagement ring is usually bought first although if you are getting married shortly after then you can buy both rings together. Try to buy a matching ring that both of you can wear.
